residency!?!?!

Well I applied for residency today. The process isn't that bad, fill out a four page form, one of two pages is left blank, depending on whether you parents file you as a dependent or not on their taxes. The frustrating part was making a list of all the accompanying documentation they wanted, making copies, but getting it notarized wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Nyuget Fuller, one of the more frequent persons that sends out MASSMAIL to campus students, is a public notary in the office of admissions and records, so I got to meet the face behind the name, and get my stuff notarized and turned in on time. I had to turn in that much documentation, her regular stapler wouldn't hold the stuff together, she had to go use the heavy duty stapler. She said given my situation, I'd probably qualify for residency, which means approximately 4000 less in tuition each semester, which would be really nice.

My first midterm, was on Friday gone, but I was sick, so I got to take the make up on Monday, I wasn't that well over the weekend either so I didn't really study extra for it. Nevertheless, I didn't do that grand on it, but neither did about half of the class, so we get to drop the lowest exam score, I'm pretty sure this is going to be my lowest score. I got my cs 232midterm tomorow, and I'm pretty sure he isn't dropping the lowest score, so I'll be studying for that a lot before 3pm tomorow.

So I had gotten a speeding ticket on my way back from Toronto in August. I had paid it and all that stuff about two weeks ago, but I hadn't received my licence(yes I know americans say license, but I am an uk english kid, aka a colony of England) back yet. So I called them up and because I paid for it via cheque, and it wasn't a cheque from the city of Decatur, they're holding my licence till my cheque clears, they said usually a month. So I wouldn't get my licence back till the end of October, and I know it expires sometime in October, so hopefully I get a chance to renew it before all that happens. When my Dad came to bring me a bunch of stuff I needed to file the residency petition, I noticed like 3-4 cop cars within a 50 meter vicinity, one had stopped a car, another was knocking on a house door, and the other two were driving... Not sure, but it sure scared me.. Also last night on my return from class, I saw a university police car parked in front of Henry Admin building, facing Wright St. with its lights turned off, obviously looking for speedsters, if there is another reason, I'd be surprised.... So me and speeding shouldn't coexist for a little while.
